GUIDED SELFDRIVE SAFARIS:

Depending on individual demands our self drive safari's usually starts in Swakopmund as most visitors to Namibia , do visit the coastal towns. The following itineraries are examples of what proved to be the most popular self drive 4x4 tours in Namibia . However individual tours can be planned for shorter or longer durations with normal truck type vehicles. It is advisable not to take children under the age of 12 years with, as the slow pace and lack of towns and entertainment makes it difficult for them. We can unfortunately not do extended tours through north western Namibia in less than 8 days from departure to return.

Day 1: This is a short drive for the day as we need to confirm the food, water and petrol supplies for all in the group. We therefore leave Swakopmund around lunch time and drive through the Namib Desert via the Ugab or Brandberg area towards the Doros Crater.

We leave Swakopmund around 11h00 and drive along the coast via the Ugab Control Gate to enter Damaraland west of the Grootberg. This route takes us a short distance through the Skeleton Coast . We overnight in western Damaraland.

Day 2: We visit Twyfelfontein, the western section of Aba-Huab to look for desert adapted elephants. This is a slow drive and we cover a distance not more that 100 km for the day. Overnight in the environments of western Damaraland;

We drive through western Damaraland towards Palmwag with the possibility of seeing desert adapted elephants and then onwards to the Khowarib Schlucht.

Day 3: Through the Joubert Mountains towards Opuwo, with an overnight at Baobeb Bend.

Day 4: Visit to old ruins of pioneers and do last shopping at Opuwo. Overnight in an isolated valley.

Day 5 & 6: Visit Epupa Falls and various Ovahimba villages along the way. Overnight along the Kunene River for two nights.

Day 7: Return from Epupa via Okonwati towards Etenga. Overnight in the mountains of northern Kaokoland.

Day 8: Descend Van Zyl's pass and visit the Marienfluss Valley .

Day 9, 10 & 11: Return via western Kaokoland via Orupembe, Purros and Sesfontein to Palmwag.

Day 12: Group splits up and visitors follow their own itinerary towards Etosha or wherever.
